In this video, we bring you an a portable shipping container home in Ohura, North Island, New Zealand that can be sold and carted away separately from the section. Three shipping containers have been used to create this unique living space. With an east-west orientation to protect the house from prevailing winds, three 40′ shipping containers are set apart and sheared horizontally to create an interesting set of volumes. The middle container is fitted with a raised lean-to roof above the shipping containers to create clerestory windows to enhance lighting and cross ventilation through the “stack effect”. The container home is designed to be demountable and relocated to different site and the house can be sold separately from the section.
