Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent refused to commit to investigating a massive conflict of interest scandal involving the Trump family's crypto company, World Liberty Financial, which received $187 million from a UAE-linked investment firm just days before Trump's inauguration. When Rep. Gregory Meeks pressed Bessent with a simple yes-or-no question about pausing the company's bank charter application until conflicts of interest could be reviewed, Bessent deflected by attacking Meeks over a 2006 trip to Venezuela instead of answering.
