In the early 1990s, on the edge of the Ningxia desert, a quiet dog breeder became the hidden face of one of China’s most disturbing true-crime cases.

By day, Cheng Peng raised wolf-dogs in a government compound in Yinchuan. One of them even became a movie star in the award-winning film An Old Man and His Dog — a gentle animal that audiences across China fell in love with.

But behind the courtyard walls, Peng was building something else entirely: a private graveyard. Lovers, taxi drivers, and old acquaintances went in and never came out. Some were buried beneath his kennels. Others were fed to the same wolf-dogs people posed with for photographs.

This documentary tells the full story of Cheng Peng — the government worker turned dog-breeder butcher — and how a smiling man with a movie-star dog was revealed to be the serial killer who fed his victims to his dogs.
