Don't Spill the Beans is a classic game of skill originally produced by Schaper. Players take turns dropping beans into a pot hoping to get rid of as many as they can without tipping the pot over and spilling the beans. The first player to get rid of all of their beans wins!

This is a unique review for me, as I seem to have run across some historical contradictions. According to many sources online, this game was invented in 1957; however, the oldest version of the game I can find an example of is from 1967. This leads me to believe that some records of the Schaper company history online are incorrect.

This comes as no surprise as ownership of Schaper changed hands in 1986 when the company was bought by Tyco, and the rights to Don't Spill the Beans, Cootie, Don't Break the Ice, & Ants in the Pants were subsequently sold to Milton Bradley in 1987. Milton Bradley was at that time a new division of Hasbro after having been acquired by the brand in 1984. With all of the changes in such short order, one can see how records could become muddied.

I believe Herb Schaper invented the game Don't Spill the Beans in 1957, and introduced the game to the market in 1967. If there is anyone who can confirm or refute my theory please do, I would love to be able to clear this little mystery up!

In the meantime, let's take a look at this 1967 edition of Don't Spill the Beans from Schaper, and compare it to this 2021 edition from Hasbro!
