Madagascar Lychee Export

Описание: Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in Africa, with over 70% of its population living below the poverty line.

The country is the biggest exporter of lychees to Europe. The industry employs up to 8,000 people in production and export stations, as well as thousands more in the supply chain.

In 2007, CDC committed €7 million to a local fund managed by Adenia Partners, which in turn invested in Madagascar Lychee Export, a lychee export business.

Since investing, the Adenia team has focused CDC’s capital on improving the production processes, health and safety standards and management at the plant. The investment has also resulted in much needed employment opportunities, with new jobs created and training of workers at the plant and in the supply chain.
