An old abandoned REFRIGERATOR has taken the life of a 4-year-old Roanoke boy.

The victim of the tragedy was 4-year-old Roger Leon Hampton of 924 Center Avenue, Northwest. The little boy was dead on arrival at Burrell Memmorial Hospital. His sister, 5-year-old Suzzette I. Hampton, crawled into the REFRIGERATOR with him. However, she was revived, treated and released from the hospital. The mother of the children, Loretta Mac Hampton, said the children had been missing for only about 5 minutes when they were found in the box. The had been playing on the back porch at the home on Center Avenue, when they crawled into the box. The mother found the children about 8 o'clock, after missing them for a few minutes. Both were rushed to Burrell Memorial Hospital, but it was too late for the little boy. He was dead on arrival. The little girl was returned home after treatment at the hospital.
