While exploring a small local stream last July, I was surprised to spot a young rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) swimming in one of its pools, as most of our local streams are too warm to support trout through the summer. I suspect it may be a remnant from the spring steelhead stocking; perhaps it found a nice stream and decided not to make the migration out to Lake Erie. Its presence makes me wonder whether any other trout have found the stream suitable for year-round dwelling...
After studying it for a few minutes, I set up my camera in the trout's favorite spot and got some decent footage! A host of other stream fish are also present in the video.
