We started our journey in Muscat, road-tripping along the coast to Bimmah Sinkhole, Wadi Shab, Sur, and Pebbles Beach, before heading into the desert for an incredible stay in Wahiba Sands. We explored the historic cities of Nizwa and Bahla, visiting their stunning forts, and finished our trip in the mountains at Jebel Shams, home to the famous Balcony Walk—often called the Grand Canyon of Oman and one of the best hikes we’ve ever done.

Oman completely surprised us. It’s authentic, breathtakingly beautiful, incredibly safe, and perfect for a family road trip. The people are warm and welcoming, the landscapes are diverse, and there’s so much to explore—from deserts and wadis to forts and mountain trails. After two weeks in Oman, it’s officially in our top 5 countries in the world and one of the most underrated destinations in the Middle East.
