Recorded more than twenty-three years ago on cassette, this mehfil carries the fragrance of an era when gatherings were steeped in sincerity and sound was an act of worship. It was held at the residence of Jinab Faqeer Abdul Ahad Wani, known with affection as Louli Wain or Ahad Louli, near the sacred grounds of Dargah Hazratbal in Srinagar, Kashmir.

That evening, the air was filled with the transcendent voice of Ustad Mohammad Sultan Bhat, whose singing stirred the depths of faith and longing. The gathering was graced by the spiritual presence of Hazrat Faqeer Qalander Abdul Ghani Shah of Khanan Kangan, our mentor and the Mir-e-Majlis, whose guidance lifted the Sama into a state of divine remembrance.

This recording is not merely a preservation of sound but an heirloom of the soul, carrying the living essence of Kashmir’s mystic tradition. It stands as a testament to those timeless nights when hearts gathered in harmony, and remembrance became music.
