Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Custom Fit Hood Gas Strut. Now this gas strut is designed to fit your 2005 to 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee. And on custom fit parts such as the strut, I do recommend taking advantage of our Vehicle Fit Guide here at etrailer. Simply input the year, make, and model of your vehicle, and our Fit Guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. So if your vehicle's hood keeps closing while you're trying to work on your engine, it's probably time to change your strut.
You're gonna be able to replace it with this custom fit gas strut that's going to make your hood operate like new again. And this has a connection of a ball and socket, as you can see there. Before we go any further, let me get my tape measure here and just give you the extended length. So measuring center of socket to center of socket, as I hope you can see, we're sitting right at 13 11/16 inches on center. The compressed length is gonna be 8 1/4 inches.
And the dampening groove inside the tube is going to prevent bouncing, giving you smooth operation in any temperature. It's gonna extend the rod from the tube to open the hood and hold it in place, and then compress the rod, the compressing the rod slowly, to close the hood without slamming it shut. The internal wiper is going to prevent sticking. It's gonna reduce friction by lubricating the rod with oil. And this is gonna be a quick, tool-free installation.
This is gonna connect directly to your vehicle's OEM ball fittings. And this does have a black powder-coated steel tube and nitrite-coated rod that are rust-resistant. So they're gonna hold up really well to the elements. And you always wanna replace your struts in pairs, where applicable. Most hoods have a strut on each side, so failure to replace both struts could result in possibly a warped hinge or a damaged hinge.
If you have any other questions about this or anything else that we have here at etrailer, don't hesitate to reach out. We wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you need. Well, again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.
