This is less a guitar review and more a review on the guitar bodies, the general available new models, and a discussion on the viability, playability, and enjoyment of these. While they both have an arched top and a few other similarities, these guitar series of models quickly diverge. Which one is right for you and is there even a significant difference?

Both of these guitars have arched tops but provide different playing experiences. The S is arched on both the top and the back, making the guitar very light and extremely thin around many of its edges. Also of note is there’s no carve aways for the fretting fingers near the neck. This thin body means that there is little room in the electronics cavity for any additions, and the neck is almost too heavy for the boy.

The RGA is arched on the top but has a flat back with the classic belly carve. This makes the guitar rest comfortably against the player’s body when standing and anchors solidly in the player’s lap when sitting, as the body isn’t too thin. The balance is excellent and the playability is perfect with the carve aways on the horns. If you’re buying new, the RGA series does not have as many options when it comes to specs, as the S series does have a model with stainless steel frets for example.
