Описание: Alain Touwaide, Historian of Sciences at the Smithsonian, has collected over 15,000 books on the medicinal use of plants in antiquity. He and his wife, Emanuela Appetit, have traveled the globe in search of ancient texts and manuscripts, recording the medical traditions of the past in a database that is open to the public for research purposes. Our ancestors had a good understanding of the natural world, according to Touwaide, and he believes this knowledge could help with the development of new medicines.
