Reducing Tightness & Stiffness In The Lower Back.
The QL assists in:
Extending & laterally flexing the lumbar spine
Stabilising the spine
The Windmill exercise targets this muscles by using it to resist any unwanted flexion (bending) in the spine.
Here I have shown how to progressively increase ROM in this movement with the assistance of a yoga block.
The Ring stretch is a passive stretch that helps to improve tightness felt in this muscle during lateral flexion.
The last exercise is a dynamic stretch that targets the hips and QL.
I use a combination of passive and active stretches whenever I’m working on increasing ROM in a particular movement.
SAVE this if you feel tight or stiff in the lower back.
