In this video, I prepare a stub out for installation using a compression valve. Since I am retrofitting, I go ahead and assemble everything before putting the stub-out back in the wall.
Follow the same process and you can be a stub-head too!

Some helpful input from comments:
On chrome, a pipe wrench may not be the best idea...it has sharp teeth that could scratch it up.
If possible, a crescent, spud or any other type of smooth jaw wrench.
