Описание: Today, Sept 11, is the birthday of Dominic Michael Blackwell. He died at 14 in the 2019 Saugus High School shooting. Innocent, fun-loving, and energetic, Dominic was also a typical teen with a messy room, a mischievous streak, and an affinity for SpongeBob cartoons and Reese’s. Constantly laughing, smiling and spreading joy, he had already labeled himself “comedian” on his Instagram profile.

Dominic was a small guy with a big heart. He was a straight A student who played football, loved swimming and drawing, and enjoyed people. As a friend described, he possessed the “super power” of humor and used it to brighten the lives of all he encountered.

The oldest of 4, Dominic absolutely loved being a big brother. A role model active in JROTC, he struggled in just one respect per a fellow cadet: “He had a hard time standing at attention because he couldn’t stop smiling.” Describing Dominic’s kindness, joy, and excitement, his grandfather said, “He gave the best of himself to everyone he knew.”

Dominic’s friend Mia Tretta was beside him and was shot in the stomach in the attack. Today she fights for gun safety reforms even as she pursues a college degree. Armed with an unregistered and untraceable ghost gun, the 16-year-old shooter killed 2, injured 3, then killed himself at the scene.
