Today, January 5, 2025, the Kenpo community mourns the loss of Grandmaster Joe Palanzo, a 10th Degree Black Belt, founder of the Worldwide Kenpo Karate Association (WKKA), and one of the most influential torchbearers of Ed Parker’s American Kenpo. His passing marks the end of an era, but his teachings, his leadership, and his spirit will continue to guide generations of martial artists around the world.
Joe Palanzo dedicated more than five decades to preserving, refining, and elevating the art of Kenpo. From his early days training under Ed Parker to building one of the most respected Kenpo organizations in the world, he shaped the lives of thousands of students, instructors, and school owners. His seminars, books, videos, and personal mentorship helped define what modern American Kenpo looks like today.
