Coach Brent and kicking student during an private kicking lesson in California demonstrate the important field goal kicking fundamental of having a proper kicking foot angle. Keep your foot rotated so the speed spot makes contact with the ball first, and avoid flicking or scooping the ball off the tee. Trust your swing and let your leg's momentum drive through the football in one solid contact. We don’t really use the term “ankle lock” anymore as said in the video, and instead prefer to say ‘rotate your foot to the correct angle that allows you to strike the sweet spot of the kicking foot to the sweet spot of the football.’
