Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has urged a return to the negotiating table before the Iran war “sets the entire region on fire.”

Amid rising global tensions and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, concerns over a sharp increase in petrol prices in Pakistan have surfaced. Experts and government officials have warned that if the conflict continues, petrol prices could potentially rise to Rs 500 per liter, putting immense pressure on the general public.

During a parliamentary session, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Finance, Saleem Mandviwala, addressed the issue, highlighting the potential economic impact of the ongoing war on Pakistan’s fuel sector. He emphasized that the government is closely monitoring global oil prices and will make informed decisions based on the latest market rates.

Minister of Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, responded to the committee, assuring that the government is aware of the challenges and is evaluating measures to protect consumers from extreme price hikes. The minister stated that the final decision regarding fuel pricing will be made after reviewing the new global oil prices, expected to be released the following day.

The Middle East is currently engulfed in one of the most intense military confrontations in recent history, involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, with the Gulf region rapidly becoming a major frontline in the conflict.
