A mock drill was conducted today at Anantnag Railway Station with the aim of assessing the preparedness and inter-departmental coordination of the concerned agencies to deal with any emergency situation in view of 26 January, Republic Day. The drill was attended by railway officials, police, fire and emergency services, the health department, and other relevant agencies.
During the exercise, a simulated emergency situation was created, to which all departments responded promptly and in an organized manner. The drill also included practices for the safe evacuation of injured persons, provision of first aid, and securing the area.
According to officials, strict security arrangements are being put in place at public locations on the occasion of 26 January, and such mock drills are aimed at making emergency response more effective so that loss of life and property can be minimized in the event of any untoward incident. At the conclusion of the mock drill, the operation was reviewed and necessary instructions for improvement were also issued.
