Today we're taking the brand-new Local Legend CAP-4 Paulistinha up for a short hop around SMZA Zorg en Hoop Airport, which is part of the new World Update 19: Brazil, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. It’s the first Local Legend and World Update released since the launch of MSFS2024 and I have to say so far I’m quite impressed by it.
The CAP-4 Paulistinha is an aircraft I had never heard of before, but it was immediately obvious that it is very closely related to a Piper Cub. Reading up on the CAP-4 it was a civilian and military training aircraft build in Brasil in the 30’s and 40’s by Companhia Aeronáutica Paulista (CAP). The first prototype flew in 1935. The first five aircraft were actually built by Empresa Aeronáutica Ypiranga (EAY) and used a Salmson radial engine. The aircraft is considered an unlicensed copy of the J-3 Cub. Looking at the Cub family, this probably comes closer to the PA-11 Cub Special with the pilot sitting in the front seat.
The sim version of the Paulistinha was developed by Inibuilds and as with most of their aircraft, the visual model is absolutely stunning, both on the in- and outside. The sounds are good too, but like many LL/FF releases on the quiet side. The flight model feels great and like you would expect from a Cub-type aircraft. It’s quite slow but still nimble and fun with a very effective rudder. Systems wise it’s just like a Cub…there aren’t really any systems, but the few that are there all work.
Overall, I’m quite happy with the Paulistinha, it gave me a reason after a few months to return to MSFS2024 and I have to say the sim has gotten a lot better since its launch.
A short note:
I want to apologize to all of you who have commented on my videos over the last few weeks/months and where I haven’t replied yet or where it took me a few days. I appreciate all of you taking the time to comment and to ask questions, tell stories or make suggestions. I’ll answer all of you over the next few days/weeks. Sadly, I have very little time at the moment for flight simming or Youtube as I’m in the middle of my thesis for university. Hopefully I’ll be able to be more active again by June.
I hope you enjoy this video. Thanks for watching!
