When we think about baseball injuries, shoulders and elbows usually get the spotlight. But one of the most powerful—and vulnerable—muscle groups in the body often flies under the radar: the hamstrings.
The hamstrings are a group of three muscles located on the back of the upper leg. In baseball, they play a critical role in generating power for both hitting and throwing. Every explosive swing and pitch starts from the ground up, and the hamstrings help drive hip extension, stabilize the lead leg, and transfer energy from the lower body through the core.
