Why do so many people struggle with single-leg balance, tight or overactive hip flexors, one-sided lower back pain, or that pinching feeling near the SI joint?
In this video, I break down one often-overlooked skill that ties all of those issues together: anti-rotation control.
Anti-rotation is your body’s ability to resist unwanted twisting when force is applied. Every step you take, every single-leg movement, every carry, reach, or lift creates rotational forces. Your spine is designed to transfer force and tolerate small amounts of motion, but it is not designed to be the primary driver of rotation under load.
When anti-rotation control is poor, the pelvis stops moving as a unit. One side starts shifting or rotating more than the other, which increases load through the SI joint, causes the hip flexors to grip for stability, and forces the lower back muscles to overwork. Over time, this shows up as uneven movement, balance issues, and recurring discomfort on one side of the body.
In this video, I explain:
• What anti-rotation really is in simple terms
• Why poor anti-rotation affects hip flexors, balance, and the SI joint
• How compensation patterns develop during walking, carrying, and single-leg tasks
• Why training anti-rotation improves everyday movement, not just workouts
You’ll also see examples of how anti-rotation is challenged in real life and why exercises like standing Pallof presses and offset or suitcase carries are so effective at restoring control without over-bracing or stiffness.
This video is educational, not a workout. The goal is to help you understand why your body feels the way it does so movement finally makes sense.
