Woman in critical condition after hit-and-run on Spokane's South Hill, 17-year-old suspect in custod

A woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a car on Spokane's South Hill Wednesday morning.
The Spokane Police Department says officers responded to the area of East 49th Avenue and South Perry Street around 5:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a car hitting a woman. Officers were advised that the driver fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a passenger in the car.
SPD says the woman who was hit was found unresponsive in the roadway and taken to the hospital. SPD says the passenger in the vehicle, also a juvenile, was treated for minor injuries.
Officers detained a 17-year-old. SPD determined that the teen was the driver of the suspect vehicle. The teen was arrested for vehicular assault, felony hit-and-run and DUI.
