The Borum 2-component (98:2) Low-pressure application equipment ensures reliable line marking during intensive traffic or under difficult weather conditions. This application method guarantees good visibility and durability, as well as low dirt pick up.

The 2-component (98:2) application and material.

Different 2-component equipment gives a possibility to execute flat or profiled markings. Regardless of equipment, the 2-component material consists of 98% of a pigmented resin base (the paint) and 2% of a catalyst (the hardener). This type of material is sensitive, so it always requires adjustment based on temperature and application. Also, you should be aware that once 2-component (98:2) material is mixed, the curing process starts, and it must be applied.
The 2-component (98:2) material gives a hard surface line, so it is easy to keep the line surface clean. Also, it guarantees good adhesion despite marked line size. However, recommended material viscosity strongly depends on the chosen equipment.

The 2-component (98:2) low-pressure system and working principles.

The system consists of:
Tank for paint, hardener, and cleaning solvent.
Lobe pump (for paint), hardener pump, and chain drive with variable gear box for hardener adjustment.
Static mixer and valves.

In 2-component (98:2) system two pumps are driven by one hydraulic motor via chain and variable gearbox, securing the 98:2 relation between paint and hardener (can be adjusted 1-1,5% on the gearbox). There is a special sensor on a pump unit to control the flow of the hardener when working. The paint goes from the pump to the mixer, where it is being mixed with the hardener, and after that to the application equipment, where it's finally applied on the road.
2-component (98:2) low-pressure system requires experienced operators and strict working rules. To make the system work properly, you need to be aware of correct dozing of the hardener, effective mixing, and cleaning on time. To facilitate 2-component system maintenance, Borum installed a special alarm system that informs when the hardener does not flow, when there is a break in the marking process, or informs when the cleaning must be done.
