In this episode we accidentally visit an abandoned mansion, also better known as Maison Clercx. The first history dates back to 1427, although not much is known about this period. The location is beautiful, a huge abandoned house in the middle of the woods.
History has nothing but a dark side that is also tangible on the location itself. The feeling of being spotted by ‘someone’ behind the dark tinted windows or the energy that wanders around. Judge yourself whether the stories are real or made up.
RUTHLESS KILLER
In 1769 the estate was purchased by Mr. Clercx. He built a mansion here where he lived until his death in 1840.
In the 18th century it was believed that ‘goat riders’ were robbers who could fly through the air on goats. For this they had a special spell: “Over house, over garden, over stake, and that to Keulen in the wine cellar!” These robbers would in reality be ‘ordinary’ people who ravaged nothing but houses and farms with looting.
Mr. Clercx swore that these robbers would be stopped. Ultimately, according to the rumors, Mr. Clercx would be responsible for 57 murders. The ‘goat riders’ were locked in his basement without water and bread after which they eventually died. Not all ‘goat riders’ were brought to the basement, some were hanged almost immediately until death followed. There were many stories about Mr. Clerx, even long after his death. His spirit would also haunt the estate in the shape of a big black dog.
