The margin of safety is the difference between the intrinsic value of an asset and its market price. As discussed in one of our previous videos the intrinsic value is what you are willing to pay for an asset assuming that you know the true value of the asset.
Investors should only seek investment opportunities with a high margin of safety. In the event that the real estate property does not produce the estimated intrinsic value, then there is a margin of safety to give you some protection against the miss accurate valuation.
