In the garden where He prayed

Drawing close getting near

He prayed to God for hours long
To take this cup from Him
“If there’s another way to save the world
Than what He’ll face
But it’s your will and not mine
And with those words, His fate was sealed”

Betrayed, they sent Him down
To the courts to be judged
They spit upon His face
And beat Him down with their fists
And when all was said and done
They couldn’t find a blame to hold
For this man is innocent
Free from sin, seen by all

As Pilate gave the choice
Between the man or Barabbas
The crowd roared loud and clear
To Pilate, crucify this man
“Well, He’s in your hands and not mine”
And with those words, He’s sent to die

They gave a crown of thorns
And struck upon His head
Forced to carry up
The cross where He’d be nailed
And as the crowds looked and scoffed
As His clothes were split by dice
He was far apart from God
Taking all our sins

The blood, the scars, the tears
He bore to save us on that day
With everything He had
He paid the price that we can’t pay
He said, “It is finished” as His Spirit leaves
And with those words, the Savior dies

The veil was torn in two
The Earth shook rocks, they moved
The Son of God had died, buried in the tomb
But then three days, He arose
The stone was rolled away
He is risen from the dead
Defeating death, the grave
