From October 22–25, 2025, Right Side Human Rights Defender NGO, with the support of the
UK Government, brought together 26 brave activists and community leaders from Armenia,
Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Moldova, and Ukraine in Chișinău.
In this video, activist Ida shares the perspective on the realities faced by transgender people in
Turkey discussing the complex social attitudes toward trans identities, the visibility of figures
like Bülent Ersoy, and the growing challenges caused by weak rule of law, police harassment,
and rising anti-gender movements. Ida also reflects on the resilience of feminist and queer
movements, the risks facing activists, and why continuing the fight for dignity, recognition, and
rights remains essential despite the uncertainty of the future.
