In this video, you will learn three single leg balance exercises (how to improve balancing on one leg) using just your body weight. Practicing these single leg balance exercises will ignite the muscles within your feet and around your ankles as well as demand glute engagement for hip stability. When you practice these single leg exercises for balance, make sure you go slow and take your time. One side might be easier than the other and require more focus on the muscles around the foot and ankle. Balance takes practice and if you don't use it you lose it.
◉ Complete 8 reps of each exercise and do 2-3 sets.
For the Curtsy Lunge Hover, this is more of a hinge movement rather than a full lunge which is hard to balance and is excellent to challenge the muscles around your ankles. As you improve your balance you will see that you will be able to get deeper in the curtsy lunge and maintain balance. When you practice the Hinge Taps you are loading the standing leg while you reach as far back as you can. For the Hinging Warrior 3, this is all about maintaining knee alignment and hip engagement to achieve balance without touching down for the reps in each set.
▷ These three single leg balance exercises incorporate hip hinging and engaging your back extensors as well as your hip complex and lower leg and foot muscles. Practicing hinging like these balance exercises can help strengthen your core which may lead to reduced back pain, improved balance, and better flexion, extension, and rotation of your trunk. Stronger core muscles can also boost your fitness and athletic performance.
▷ Notice what your knee does in each single leg balance exercise. If your knee rolls inward or waivers to the side that is an indication that either the muscles supporting the hip or ankle joints are not engaging. Take it slow and practice precision to improve hip and ankle stability.
