I've done a few of these Iron Butt long-distance rides over the years, but this one takes the cake. Freezing temps, nearly running out of gas, Buc-ee's, rain and hail, scenic sights...this one had it all.
This type of ride is a BunBurner 1500 with the intention of completing 1500+ miles within 30 hours for the BunBurner Silver designation. This is my third completed BunBurner 1500.
This is also the first time I've documented one of these rides with a GoPro, so you can see what happens behind the scenes when you start from home and find yourself several states over and over 1500 miles away.
This was also the first leg of a long loop that continued across I-70 and down I-15 back to Las Vegas, NV, and then home to Lawndale, CA. This entire trip totaled 2626 miles in five days.
Route: Lawndale, CA/Flagstaff, AZ/Las Vegas, NM/Amarillo, TX/Fountain, CO using interstates, US highways, and state routes.
Total time: approx. 28 hours
