Описание: A Comprehensive Review of State & Tribal Beaver Plans or Programs Across the US & UK: What's Working Well & Making a Difference

Jackie Corday (Riverscape Restoration Network & Colorado Beaver Working Group) & Alicia Marrs (National Wildlife Federation)

Jackie Corday and Alicia Marrs have conducted a comprehensive review of the available information on State and Tribal plans and programs that are being implemented in the U.S. to partner with beaver to improve riparian habitats and headwaters systems. Presenters will discuss the highlights of existing beaver plans and programs and key lessons learned that other states, agencies, nonprofits, and Tribes can utilize when developing beaver programs in their jurisdictions.

Jackie Corday is a land and water conservation lawyer with over 20 years of experience collaborating with numerous local, state, and federal agencies and nonprofits to solve challenges to natural resource issues. She works at the intersection of science, policy, and law, with a particular interest in synthesizing the latest restoration research to help inform policy. Jackie previously led Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s statewide Water Resources Section where she began researching process-based restoration approaches to restoring river-wetland corridors. In 2020, she moved from Denver to Montrose, Colorado and continued her focus on working with nonprofits and agencies to scale up headwaters restoration as the owner of Corday Natural Resources Consulting and as the co-founder and co-chair of the Colorado Healthy Headwaters Working Group and the Riverscape Restoration Network (which has over 300 members from the Western States). Jackie obtained her undergrad degree from Humboldt State University in Environmental Biology and her J.D. from University of Oregon School of Law with a focus on environmental law.

Alicia Marrs is the Director of the National Wildlife Federation’s Western Water Program, and is responsible for advancing NWF’s efforts to achieve its vision of ensuring there is adequate water for people and wildlife in the West through sustainable and equitable land management policies and practices that foster resilience of the West’s water resources. She joined NWF in 2023 after spending 15 years working with and within various federal agencies (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service) with a focus on building and leading collaborative partnerships in support of water conservation, climate and drought resilience, and fish habitat conservation. She holds a BA in Environmental Policy and Planning from Western Washington University, and an MA in Global Environmental Policy from American University in Washington, D.C..
