25 Days of High Adventure Camping in the Northern Manitoba Wild - E.5 - Fishing, Solo Whitewater, Outdoor Fishing & Big Sand Lake: Outfitting for the rapids finished, we made camp and fried walleye fillets over the fire for dinner. It was a beautiful campsite in the great outdoors. Manitoba fishing had been good and we ate some dehydrated food too. After breaking camp the next morning we portaged our gear including dry bags over to the canoes and soloed some whitewater to start off the day of wilderness travel. We then crossed some lakes before we were faced with another intense rapid where the water was flooded into the trees all around, preventing us from being able to scout properly. We ran it anyways and it was a blast! Before too long we got to Big Sand Lake and ended up paddling 42kms on the hot day before reaching a place to camp on a beach. It was a good day but we were exhausted. We just hoped the weather would hold and we'd be able to paddle on the large lake the next day....
