Recipe for Heart-Shaped Pizza
Dough:
800 g flour
0.5 L water
25 g salt
1 g dry yeast
10 g sugar
25 g olive oil
Toppings:
200 g canned (peeled) tomatoes
300 g mozzarella cheese
100 g gouda cheese
100 g sausage
1 bunch fresh (or regular) basil
Olive oil (to taste)
Instructions:
Combine the dry ingredients: Pour the flour into a large bowl and mix it with the dry yeast. Be careful not to let the salt come into direct contact with the yeast, as it can kill the yeast.
Dissolve the salt: In another bowl, dissolve the salt in cold water. Then add most of the flour into the salted water and mix. Keep adding flour until you get a soft dough.
Add sugar and olive oil: Once a soft dough has formed, add the sugar and olive oil. Knead thoroughly for about 20 minutes.
Initial resting: Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.
Divide the dough: After 20 minutes, divide the dough into 4–6 pieces and shape each piece into a ball. Cover them again and let them rest for 6–8 hours.
Shape the dough: Place a ball of dough on baking paper and flatten it with your hands. (Shape it however you like—try a heart shape!)
Prepare the sauce: Crush the canned tomatoes into a sauce and spread it over the dough. Add mozzarella, gouda, sausage, and basil on top. Drizzle with olive oil if you like.
Bake: Preheat your oven to the highest temperature possible (mine is 275°C / 525°F). Place the pizza, along with the baking paper, on a preheated baking sheet or pizza stone. Bake until the dough is fully cooked—I baked mine at 275°C for 10 minutes.
