Built on defence cooperation, advanced technology, intelligence sharing, and shared threat perceptions, this informal bloc is increasingly viewed as a counterweight to a Pakistan–Saudi Arabia–Turkey-led grouping, often dubbed by commentators as the “Islamic NATO.”
Unlike formal military alliances, this alignment operates through strategic convergence rather than treaties, shaped by concerns over regional instability, extremism, Iran, and great-power competition.
