I saved Skogafoss for a separate video as the grey gloom on arrival (and the need for dinner and sleep) didn't do much for the vision of the waterfall I really wanted. So I was up at 6am to avoid the crowds and to get an unimpeded view of the cascade. Back to bed for a bit and then a climb back to the top for the rainbows which I wouldn't have had the joy of experiencing under cloud cover.
Just a short walk from Skogafoss Campground is a fascinating museum touching on the island's extensive history. From there we hiked the 15 minutes to visit Kvernufoss, a waterfall that sees 1% of the visitors it's larger neighbor does...but it was worth it to go stand behind the waterfall and look out.
