Someone once asked Mahatama Buddha that what is the most important thing in a human life? What is that thing that is the essence of peace for a human life? How should one conduct in a manner or how his philosophy should be so that he can live happily and peaceful. Buddha said the one who knows how to act in moderation in anything and everything that person does is the person who is going to be at peace.
To do anything in moderation requires practice. Usually a person keeps doing what they enjoy doing. And if they are not enjoying that work, they won’t do it.
Sri Krishna says that one who is a yogi, one who is enlightened, one who is buddha is always aware of that how much he should eat, how much he should speak, how much he should sleep. The food should be in moderation, pleasures should be in moderation, the effort should be in moderation and to sleep and be awake should also be in moderation. That is how a human being can overpower his pains and sorrows. To strike that balance, it only comes with practice.
