Recipe: Maple Glazed Salmon (Canadian Style)
Ingredients & Seasoning
Main: 2 Salmon fillets (approx. 150g each, skin-on preferred for texture).
Glaze: 1/4 cup Pure Maple Syrup (Grade A or Dark), 2 tbsp Soy Sauce, 1 tsp Lemon Juice (or Apple Cider Vinegar), 1 clove Garlic (minced), 1/2 tsp Fresh Ginger (grated).
Cooking: 1 tbsp Butter (or Olive Oil) for searing.
Seasoning: Salt and Black Pepper to taste.
Garnish: 1 tsp Toasted Sesame Seeds, 1 Green Onion (finely chopped).
Preparation & Marination
Aromatics: Finely mince the garlic and grate the ginger. Chop green onions for garnish.
Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic, and ginger until well combined.
Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
Cooking Actions
Sear: Heat butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place salmon skin-side down. Cook for 3-4 minutes until skin is crispy and golden.
Flip & Glaze: Flip the salmon. Immediately pour the maple sauce mixture into the pan.
Baste: Let the sauce bubble and reduce (approx. 2-3 minutes). Continuously spoon the thickening glaze over the salmon to create a sticky, glossy coating.
Finish: Once the glaze is thick and coats the back of a spoon, remove from heat.
Final Plating & Serving
Plate: Serve the salmon immediately, ideally over steamed white rice or asparagus.
Drizzle: Pour the remaining sticky glaze from the pan over the fish.
Garnish: Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and green onions.
