I asked the European Commission what are their concrete steps to avoid a price increase in imported fertilisers prices next year, as a result of the implementation of CBAM in 2026.
Following discussions with tillage farmers from Ireland and inspired by a young farmer's question to the European Commissioner for Agriculture yesterday, I asked the Commission for clarity and next steps.
Almost half of the imported fertilisers in Ireland are imported from outside the EU and we can't afford any uncertainty.
