Описание: Dancers Sophia Salingaros and Jeeno Joseph present Samatva. Samatva’, the Sanskrit word for equality, is an intercultural and multi-faith collaboration to present a Bharatanatyam —Indian classical dance — performance with live musical accompaniment. Bharatanatyam dance roots itself in a tradition of solo, Indian female performers narrating stories from the Hindu mythology. The main dancers, Sophia Salingaros and Jeeno Joseph, as a non-Indian and a Christian respectively, represent two groups that rarely pursue this Indian, Hindu art form. Nevertheless, they have both trained and performed for over a decade, transcending constructed religious, racial, and gender boundaries through their performances.
