And if for the first hundred years only natural asphalt was used in construction, then since the 20th century, due to the growing popularity of cars, the demand for roads has also increased. This is how oil-based artificial asphalt concrete pavement appeared and asphalt paving technologies improved. Perhaps it was the development of roads that made the world as urban as we see it now.
