In “Barbary Coast Bunny” (released July 21, 1956), Bugs Bunny strikes it rich when he tunnels into a massive gold nugget on his way to visit his cousin in San Francisco. His luck turns sour when the slimy gambler Nasty Canasta poses as a banker and cons him out of the gold—prompting Bugs to seek payback. Six months later, Bugs infiltrates Canasta’s newly opened, crooked casino disguised as a naive country bumpkin. He hilariously misuses the slot machine as a phone and proceeds to win repeatedly, bankrupting Canasta through roulette, poker, and even a satirical take on Russian roulette—leaving the villain defeated and robbed of his ill-gotten gains.
