On this day approximately 300 Japanese Imperial Navy and Air Force planes attacked the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor. This attack took the nation by suprise and was the moment America, would enter World War II.
One Walnut Ridge, AR woman was there to see it first hand. Catherine Ponder, wife of the late Willis Miles Ponder Jr, a Naval Aviator during WWII. Her experience sheds light on the hardships Americans didn’t just face abroad, but at home. Mrs. Ponder’s unique experience that Sunday will instill a sense of understanding, as to why we could not give in.
