Watch a U2 Dragon Lady military reconnaissance plane perform practice circuits at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, UK. A chase car helps to guide the aircraft back down due to the difficulty with landing.
The Lockheed-Martin U-2 Dragon Lady went into service in 1956 and is still flying, almost 70 years later. The last one was delivered to the US Air Force in 1989 and the latest variant is the U-2S. The U2 however is set to be retired soon with drones taking their place but this is not yet confirmed.
The US intelligence platform regularly operates out of RAF Fairford where the 99th Reconnaissance Squadron are detached on a long-term basis. The squadron is home-based at Beale Air Force Base in California; and frequently rotate aircraft with the US Air Force in Europe's operations.
