Today we have a panel of foreign correspondents to touch upon the latest diplomatic interactions here in this part of the world and their implications.

I also have Thisanka Siripala over in Tokyo live on the line.
Thisanka as always it's good to have you with us.

1) Nicolas, aerial drills are taking place here in this part of the world as we speak in line with efforts to better deter rampant threats by North Korea.
Let's start with some details regarding the joint military efforts by Seoul and Washington as their leaders agree to advance "an alliance in action".

2) Thisanka, regional security initiatives against North Korea's hostile policy include Japan as well.
That being said, what appear to be the prospects of Japan taking part in the Washington Declaration as seen by pundits there?


3) Nicolas, this year, North Korea test-fired 12 ballistic missiles on nine separate days.
But contrary to expectations, it has not engaged in any acts of such aggression in recent days even amid South Korea's active engagements with the U.S. and neighboring Japan.
How are pundits explaining this silent strategy?
I mean should we be bracing for a storm?

4) Meanwhile Thisanka, a new report appears to show Japan leading in losses from North Korea's crypto hacking.
Do tell us a bit more, and are authorities seeking countermeasures moving forward?

5) Nicolas, here in South Korea, concern is being raised about the country's preparedness for North Korea's drone attacks, I hear.
Do tell us more.

6) Thisanka, Japan is preparing to host the G7 summit in Hiroshima starting this coming Friday.
First then, briefly speaking, what looks to dominate the upcoming talks?

7) Nicolas, speaking to the media ahead of the G7 summit, senior U.S. officials claimed the upcoming gathering in Hiroshima will show unity with regard to approaching China while acknowledging each member's individual ties with Beijing.
How does this claim relate to French President Emmanuel Macron's remarks last month during a visit to Beijing where he called for easing dependence on the U.S. and the EU becoming a "third pole" in global affairs?

8) Thisanka, on the sidelines of the G7 summit, a trilateral talk among the leaders of South Korea, Japan and the U.S. is expected to take place to cover security on the economic front as well as that on the Korean peninsula.
Now these topics were also addressed during Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's visit to Seoul earlier this month.
That being said, what was the focus of the Japanese media coverage of the latest summit between the two neighbors?

9) Nicolas, moving forward, some scholars believe the current G7 summit should be expanded to include South Korea as an official 8th member of the group.
What are the prospects of this reality?

10) Thisanka, also on the topic of groupings, Japanese media have said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau proposed to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida back in January in Ottawa the creation of a quadruple framework with South Korea and the U.S. to counter regional concerns.
What appears to the response there to this proposal?
