Uber Eats Wins Emmy Award for Best Commercial
It has received the award for “Brian Cox goes to college”, created by agency Special and produced by O Positive.
Spots from Apple, Nike, The Walt Disney Company and State Farm were also among the nominees.
Following his acclaimed role in the series “Succession”, actor Brian Cox has become a familiar face in advertising in recent years. And his collaboration with Uber Eats has earned the delivery platform the Emmy Award for Best Commercial, a recognition that the U.S. Television Academy has been granting since 1997.
The award went to the spot “Brian Cox goes to college”, conceived by agency Special (Los Angeles) and produced by O Positive. The creative highlights the possibilities of Uber’s subscription plan, Uber One, through a piece that casts Brian Cox as a college student, despite being over 60 years old.
The ad uses humor, through the testimony of his roommate, to show that Cox is not interested in expanding his knowledge or adding meaning to his life now that he has time, but is solely focused on Uber One’s student discounts.
With this Emmy, Uber Eats expands its list of accolades thanks to this spot. In fact, “Brian Cox goes to college” had already won a Gold Lion in the Film category at Cannes Lions 2025.
It is worth noting that Uber Eats was also nominated for the Emmy for Best Commercial last year with “Best Friends”, created by Mother London and starring Robert De Niro and Asa Butterfield.
In this way, Uber Eats takes over from Apple, which collected the recognition in the two previous Emmy editions: in 2023 with “The Greatest”, and in 2024 with “Fuzzy Feelings”, the brand’s Christmas ad. This year, Apple competed with two entries: “Flock”, for its privacy features, and “Heartstrings”, for AirPods Pro. Both were created by TBWA\Media Arts Lab.
