Detroit— They call it "The Hum," an annoying, low-level, throbbing sound that few Metro Detroiters hear but one Canadians in Windsor can't stand.
For the past two years, thousands of Windsor residents say they have been going loony over the drumming/vibrating/pulsating sonic assault that many believe is emanating from Zug Island, a 600-acre, heavily industrialized manmade island jutting into the Detroit River.
Those audibly annoyed have started a Facebook group (the Windsor/Essex County Hum) and a Twitter account (@TheWindsorHum) to vent and detail its sporadic occurrences of the sound coming from an unknown source. And now, the Canadian government is taking the mysterious noise seriously, too.
