My Written Review
These Crampons are pretty interesting and a good idea. They attach to the outside of your shoes or boots for use in the winter time and enable you to get traction even when walking through snow and ice. They are anti-skid and have a 360 degree traction with a lock system. I love that these fold up really small so if you are using them to go on a walk in the winter you can slip them off and fold them in half for storage. I love that they actually work without having any spikes on them. They are basically metal coils, wrapped around rubber.
They stretch easily and can grip onto shoes of any size. They can be used with sneakers, boots- whatever. They are also not too noticeable when being worn and not ridiculous looking- so I will actually use them in the winter! A few years ago I broke my knee cap and I become concerned about taking a fall on the snow and ice. I go for walks quite a bit in the winter time, shovel my driveway frequently and also walk my children to school- if I were to dislocate that knee again it could be a surgical repair so I really do want to avoid slipping and falling. These are a great, convenient option because I simply need to slip it on over my shoe and I am good to go on those icy mornings.
These seem to be decently made but I do have a concern regarding the quality. The rubber pieces are rather thin that run through the metal coils, which is fine. It does pose a problem when that thin piece of rubber attaches to the piece that stretches over your shoe. It is being stretched thinner and rubbing against that metal piece and you can see on mine that it is getting rubbed and tearing a bit. I suspect that those will probably break after some heavy use. You could definitely come up with other means to tie those on, but I would suggest some extra reinforcement in the design there. Should mind get worn or break there, would they still be usable? Yes. The rubber is stretchy and durable, it just needs to be reinforced where that metal rubs it in those four areas.
They have a great design, with the exception of the flaw that I mentioned. Do be careful when stretching these to put them on. With some minor alterations to the product these would be just great. Disclaimer: I received this product at the discounted rate in exchange for my honest opinion.
