After an unexpected return from my vanlife travels across Europe, I found myself back in Tamworth, Staffordshire — a town steeped in history and heart.
Known for its Sandyback pigs, Sir Robert Peel’s statue (the founder of the British police force), and a touching tribute to Colin Grazier, the brave sailor who helped crack the Enigma Code due his bravery and death in 1942, Tamworth truly honours its heroes.
I attended the Remembrance Parade, surrounded by family, locals, and the sound of classic wartime songs performed by a lovely group of ladies.
Of course, Tamworth is also now known for jacket potatoes and the famous “Spud Man” whose potato trailer is usually set up in the church square.
