As verified by the original VIN and Trim Tag, this Camaro was assembled during the fourth week of January 1969 at the Van Nuys, California plant. It originally came equipped with the Rally Sport (Z22), Special Performance (Z28), Muncie M21 4-speed, Positraction (G80), and J52 front disc brakes. Out of the 20,302 Z28s built in 1969, fewer than 10% were fitted with the Rally Sport option—making this car both rare and collectible.

This Z28 has a long California, Arizona, and Texas history and was cherished by its previous owner for 40 years. In 2016, it underwent a complete rotisserie restoration, returning it to factory specifications with subtle enhancements like a cowl-induction hood and rear spoiler. The restoration left the car in show-quality condition, and it has been driven less than 200 miles since completion. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car in April 2025 and invested an additional $32,941.32 in service and detail, including a $15,000 respray of its Lemans Blue paint with white racing stripes.

The exterior shines with its straight body, excellent gaps, and flawless finish. New Soft-Ray glass, restored trim, emblems, bumpers, and Firestone Sport Car 200 tires mounted on Rally wheels make this Z28 look factory fresh. Even the hideaway headlights function as intended.

Inside, the black deluxe interior was restored to its original Code 712 specification, featuring comfort weave upholstery, woodgrain accents, and a Hurst shifter. Every detail was replaced or refurbished, from the headliner to the carpets. The trunk compartment was refinished with splatter paint, a correct trunk mat, full-size spare, and jack tools.

Under the hood lies the heart of the Z28 legend—the original, matching-numbers DZ302 V8 engine, rebuilt by Hill Country Performance and Machine. MS CLASSIC CARS enhanced accuracy by sourcing correct 186 heads and restoring the #4053 Holley carburetor. Other correct components include the alternator, brake booster, radiator tanks, and manifolds. The DZ302 breathes through a chambered exhaust system, a correct option for early 1969 cars, and is paired with a rebuilt Muncie 4-speed and a correct BU-coded Positraction rear end with 3.73 gears.

The undercarriage is concours-detailed with proper factory-style paint markings, gray spiral shocks, 4-leaf springs, and correct disc brake calipers. The suspension, braking, power steering, and fuel systems were all restored or replaced. This underside is show-ready and deserves to be displayed with mirrors.

While already restored to a very high level, Larry Christensen provided a list of minor items for correction should the new owner wish to pursue Camaro Nationals judging. MS CLASSIC CARS will provide this list, some of which have already been addressed.
