VAINS - Self-Titled EP

Eh. This is the Vains, a punk group from Seattle that was active from 1979 to 1980--er, I believe, don't quote me on that. This extremely short-lived group only saw one release reach the public, and that's what you're listening to right now. I'm not entirely sure what to refer as this 3-track EP as: "3 Action Hits"? "Self-Titled"? "You May Not Believe In Vains But You Cannot Deny Terror"? The latter seems the most appropriate, but that's too long for a title on Youtube, so self-titled it will stay. A jumbled sleeve aside, the Vains delivers some legendary tracks on this 7", with "School Jerks" and "The Loser" boasting the majority of the EP's critical acclaim. "The Fake" is considerably poppier, though still receptive to the prior two track's hellacious proto-hardcore sounds and occasional senseless guitar noodling. This is a fantastic release for anyone lookin' to dig into some early transitional hardcore punk, and will always be my personal favorite KBD-featured group. Oh yeah, and Duff McKagan played bass for this band; as if you needed another reason to listen.

I'll get back to the modern stuff tomorrow, this is is just a nice lil' tangent in my postings. I've got somethin' lined up that I'm pretty excited to share.
